On Friday, May 28th, 2021, Portland classic heavy metal band Silver Talon released their debut album 'Decadence And Decay' on M-Theory Audio.

Luckily they did not let the pandemic stop them from creating new music. After the 'Becoming A Demon' EP in 2018, which sounded a bit restrained, they added third guitarist Devon Miller. He somehow was the missing link and made the band sound more focused and powerful.

Opening track and first single 'Deceiver I Am' lets you know in an instant what you are in for. Heavy Power Metal with a capital H, P, and M. The song has great energy, awesome solos, and a lot of vocal artistry. Wyatt Howell can do everything with his voice, he can growl, shriek, everything. Every vocal melody is an adventure, you simply do not know where he is going.

Besides great solos and elastic vocal abilities, the songs on this album contain structures in the form of choruses and space for shredding solos that give stability, so you 'get' the album quicker and you can focus on the guitarsolos which are out of this world. On 'Resistance 2029' King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque plays a solo that is so good. You have four guitarists soloing on a song that is so packed with energy, it is simply an intravenous Red Bull injection in a 5-minute song. 'Next To The Sun' is simply great because it starts as a ballad, but it transforms into this soaring heavy metal song with an awesome staccato pre-chorus and an infectious chorus. And 'Kill All Kings' is a tremendous song for a guitar hero game.

Silver Talon recorded an album that is powerful, razor-sharp, and fun. It makes 'Decadence And Decay' one of the metal albums that stick in your mind for a long time.
